The Eye of Rome : Stephen Wiltshire

Mr Wiltshire is not your average Londoner. Born in 1974 from West Indian parents, affected of a form of autism he never was able to communicate with the outside world like the rest of us. He grew up with his mum and sister. It soon became obvious that he had an exceptional talent at drawing and recreating scenes of what he saw.
As early as 1987, he was spotted by the BBC and the very same year some of his works were already published. Since then Stephen Wiltshire became the subject of many Tv documentaries.

If at the beginning Stephen would draw animals, then London buses, he eventually dedicated to landscapes, cities and great buildings of all over the world: In 2001, further to flying over the city by helicopter, he then did a perfectly detailed and accurate drawing of London. Subsequently , he also drew Tokyo in 2005, and at […]

Christmas Time , Fair in Rome

Every year it takes place into the magical Navona Square, or as they say in Rome, “Piazza Navona”, The Christmas fair.
All the “piazza” beyond the severe look out of the statues of Bernini, fills itself with hundreds of selling stands of sweets, toys, craft, nutty nougats, cotton candy, small and big nice things that you can buy as a present for yours friends or yours kids.
The square is a match sought place for kids and their daddies and mommies and everyone who would like to visit the “presepe”(manger) . The manger is another of Rome’s Cristmas tradition and in Navona it is located in the middle of the square, right next the fountain of the “rivers”. You can eat one fabulous ciambella (doughnut) or take a stroll down to one of the many bars or tea rooms to sit and take a nice cappuccino or […]

Rome: strike guide

Picture this: finally, after all those months of saving you are in Rome. Of course, you feel great. You arrived a bit late to your hotel (My Hotel, of course), but after a shower in your comfortable room you feel wonderful and anxious to start seeing all what Rome has to offer. You’re planning all the nice things
you’ll do tomorrow when somehow (maybe the news, or through your hotel) you realize there will be a transport strike in the city.
Tragic coincidence, but it might happen. Actually many people are in that situation right now while I write this lines. That’s why I decided to make this small emergency guide that will be also useful if you just want to explore the city without taking the buses or the subway.

Walk the City
In Rome during a strike your feet are your best friends. Cabs will be hard to find and you will […]
