The Sounds of Piazza Vittorio

There’s more than one Rome. We have the ancient Rome, maybe the most famous of them, and probably the reason why you’re travelling here. But the city has also a living face that’s almost as fascinating as its monuments.
Italy, like most of the European countries is a magnet for immigration from all the continents. As everyone knows, this phenomenon that mixes together people of different origins and creeds  often gives place to disputes that show the most intolerant side of a human group. But sometimes everything goes well and the story has a happy ending, as in Piazza Vittorio, here in Rome.
Piazza Vittorio it’s one of many roman squares. What makes it different is that in the recent years many immigrant families have chosen to live there. In the streets surrounding the square you can hear Italian mixed with Chinese, Spanish and Urdu. And if you are curious enough to […]

Terra Cotta Inn - World’s Best Clothing Optional Resort

There are so many awards in the travel industry. Best Airline. Best Hotel. Best Place To Have An Illicit Affair. You know, the important stuff. We usually skip these  awards since they’re just fluff. But this one caught our eye, because it’s about the opposite. It’s not about the fluff, at all. It’s about, well getting naked. And there’s not fluff there. Well, unless….Oh never mind. Back to the topic at hand, the world’s best clothing optional resort, the Terra Cotta Inn. Some place in Palm Springs haunted by the ghost of Sonny Bono it appears. Don’t be afraid, turns out clothing optional resorts are one of the fastest growing segments of the travel industry. And why not, you don’t have the packing headache like you do with other vacations. Plus it’s a very egalitarian environment:
The Terra Cotta Inn is called the most mainstream nudist resort in America and is […]

Lord Elgin Hotel Is Sparkling With Diamonds In March

March is not always the brightest month in Ottawa. The canal is closed, the skiing is just about done and the tulips are not yet up. So we decided to add a little sparkle in your stay in March by offering ALL of our guests something that anyone would love – either to wear or to give away… a diamond ring. It is so easy. Each time you enter your room when you check in; you will find an envelope on your pillow. In it will either be a coupon for Taing Jewellers or if you are really lucky, you will find the ticket for the ring of the week. The rings are really beautiful. They can be worn on their own, or beside another ring. Or, if you had something else in mind, Taing Jewellers will certainly be able to exchange this ring […]

Gamirasu Cave Hotel, More Than Just Caves!

The next time I’m in Turkey I am definitely going to spelunk this place out. The place I am so excitedly talking about is the Gamirasu Cave Hotel located in Aywali, a village near Urgup in the heart of Cappadocia, Turkey.
This hotel has been constructed in a restored thousand-year-old Byzantine monastic retreat. Its 18 rooms were carved by hand from volcanic rock centuries ago. The rooms look comfortable enough, with natural cotton futons, kilims and Turkish rugs, showers and heat. There is also a restaurant that prepares organically produced food in the typical Cappadocian style. Their is lots to do in the area, including donkey, horse or bicycle rides through surrounding villages as well as guided tours and Whirling Dervishes. Come on, Whirling Dervishes!!!

An Ice Night to Remember- a hotel experience unlike any other

Imagine a hotel built from thousands of tons of snow and ice, re-designed and re-constructed from scratch every winter. That is a life-cycle of ICEHOTEL in the little village called Jukkasjârvi in northern Lapland, Sweden.
Each year ICEHOTEL artists as well as invited artists from around the world create unique design and experience for the hotel and each of the suites.
The building of the ICEHOTEL starts in November and it takes about a month and half before the hotel opens. As soon as the spring sunshine gets stronger ( end of April – beginning of May) the Mother nature begins her demolition work in the most green/eco friendly style you can imagine - he ICEHOTEL simply makes its run directly to River Torne.
ICEHOTEL features double rooms and suites for overnight guests, a lobby, a pillar hall, film auditorium and of course the famous Absolut Icebar - where people from all over […]

Take A Reading Vacation At The Sylvia Beach Hotel

If you love to read but can never find enough time to work through the rapidly growing pile next to your bed, think about heading to Oregon and staying at the Sylvia Beach Hotel, a hotel catering to book lovers the world over. Located on the Oregon coast and offering sweeping views of the Pacific, there are no phones or t.v. in the rooms or common areas. But that is only part of the charm of the hotel. The main attraction is the books. Everywhere. In common areas. In your rooms. In fact, in addition to a large shared library downstairs, each room has a different literary genre as a theme. So for example, you can stay in the Agatha Christie room in one of the Classics rooms or if you’re more into Best Sellers, the Alice Walker room. There are over twenty different literary themed rooms including:
Best Sellers

Arte Luise Kunsthotel: German Art Hotel

If you’re looking for something different on your next trip to Berlin, consider staying at the Arte Luise Kunsthotel, an art themed hotel in Berlin where each room has been decorated by a different German artist:
All rooms were decorated by a renown artist, whereby the entire room
was included in the concept. Thus, every room is an original, and all
rooms are only united by the high artistic standards with which the
concepts have been carried out. Sculptures in the lobby and philosophy
in the stairwell accompany guests en route.
